City Pays NYPD Cop $110,000 for Sexual Harassment
Police Officer Jazmia Inserillo filed a lawsuit against an NYPD lieutenant, who was later found to have sexually harassed her.
The city is paying $110,000 to a NYPD cop who claimed she was sexually harassed by her lieutenant, who must also fork over $2,500 as part of the settlement agreement.
Jazmia Inserillo alleged that Lt. Jason Margolis of the 103rd Precinct put the creepy moves on her, massaging her shoulders, making inappropriate inquiries about her personal life and bragging about his ties to police brass.
Margolis allegedly invited his subordinate out to bars, parties and one time drove her to his residence saying that his wife was not home, according to the suit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court. Margolis was previously disciplined by the NYPD, docked 10 vacation days and ordered to attend a "professionalism in the workplace" seminar.
"He told (Inserillo) and other women in the command, 'If you play the game, I'll take care of you,'" the suit alleged. When the cop rejected his advances, Margolis allegedly sniped about her choice of husband.
After Inserillo filed a complaint, she wasn't protected, but was sent to a department shrink and for alcohol treatment, which she alleged was retaliation for calling out Margolis' improper behavior.
